DESCRIPTION:Mia is part of Staging Breast Cancer Trilogy\, a transnational\, mixed-media project. At the beginning of the 20th century\, operating rooms were called surgery theaters because they were designed in such a way that\, like people attending cultural events\, those in the audience could observe the body being cut open\, operated on\, and sewn back. Moreover\, at the end of these surgeries\, people applauded. Losing her breast to cancer invites Mia on a raw journey to discover the deep meanings of being a woman. Designed as a series of four installations\, each with its own focus and invited guests\, the artistic team invites the audience to witness realities that we have left unchecked for too long. The changeability of our theatrical concept aligns with a genuine civic theater\, a consequence of our pandemic times. The artistic team believes that just as it is fundamental to have a teaching hospital\, so there should be a teaching theater. When the lights in the theater are switched off\, the audience continues Mia’s honest investigation into what it means to question everything until personal truths are no longer pushed aside but embraced.
