HERE & Back encompasses projects produced by HERE and helmed by established artists with deep connections to HERE. For audiences, HERE & Back provides the chance to experience daring performances by high-profile multidisciplinary artists in our intimate spaces; for the artists, HERE remains a special home for their work and a space open to risk-taking.
PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now, is an annual festival of visionary opera-theatre and music-theatre works by pioneering contemporary artists from New York City and around the world, co-produced with Beth Morrison Projects.
Dream Music Puppetry
One of few programs in the country to grow and commission contemporary, adult puppet works, Dream Music provides performance opportunities to puppet artists, and encourages multidisciplinary collaboration to develop new puppetry techniques.
HEREart provides emerging and early career visual artists and curators access to space at an active, well-located multi-arts center.
URHERE is a one-of-a-kind, rigorously curated virtual platform for outdoor and digital premieres. URHERE aims to occupy an important part of the art ecosystem which nurtures experimentation, sparks dialogue, and creates engagement with the local community.
In 2020-21, audiences joined us HERE for creativity IRL and in the digital space. You could find us around the city as we premiere new work with #stillHERE: IRL; check out a digital premiere or in-progress sharing by a HERE artist or alum (#stillHERE: Online); experience all 16 installments of our sequential community-built video series, COVIDEO; and create with us as part of our USPS-driven HEREart initiative, Artful Post!
One of our most vital services, the SubletSeries@HERE supports 150 guest independent artists and groups—such as Colt Coeur, Ma-Yi, and New Georges each season.
Co-Ops are special HERE presentations, as part of HERE’s curated rental program, which provides artists with subsidized space and equipment, as well as technical support.
MADE HERE is a documentary series devoted to the lives of performing artists based in New York City. A collage of intimate interviews, performances and behind-the-scenes footage, MADE HERE mirrors the rich diversity of the artists and communities they serve. MADE HERE ran from 2010-2013.
