Watch This!
Watch This! is a dance theatre piece about the joy and burden of having a body and therefore, having an audience. We go through the world always seeing each other and always being seen, in bodies that are full of contradictions and oftentimes, unable to contain us. The self exists in public and private all at once and is, at any given moment, soft, sturdy, messy, awkward, delicate, and strange. The act of trying to be seen whilst trying to hide is especially complicated for queer and gender queer beings, or those of us who do not feel we entirely belong to the body we have. Over the course of an hour, several dancers work together to attempt the task of capturing the self entirely without breaking their container. Watch as these characters disassemble and rearrange themselves in front of an audience and as an audience, and see if you can determine which side holds the power.
