URHERE

URHERE is a one-of-a-kind, rigorously curated virtual platform for outdoor and digital premieres. URHERE aims to occupy an important part of the art ecosystem which nurtures experimentation, sparks dialogue, and creates engagement with the local community.

Supporting independent artists and ensembles, URHERE expands on HERE’s mission to support multidisciplinary work made by artists at every stage of their careers. While projects may take many different forms, the platform will focus on artists whose work captures a rich cross-section of risk-taking, new perspectives, and artistic disciplines.

URHERE is located at urhere.art. Please click here for more information and to buy a ticket or subscription.

Funding for URHERE has been provided by Bloomberg Philanthropies as part of the Digital Accelerator for Arts and Culture funding initiative. With their support, and with guidance from Lapine Group, HERE has partnered with design firm Imaginary Places (developers of Decameron Row and PROTOTYPE’s 2021 Modulation) to create the platform concept and design.

In 1996, before social media was a thought, 26 words were penned into law that shaped the internet. Almost entirely unrevised today, Section 230 has impacted culture in a way that cannot be undone. This live, online performance questions, fetishizes, and deconstructs these 26 words that gave birth to a culture of memes, doom scrolls, insurrections, and cats.

Emerging in the shadow of world conversations and congregations around the pressing urgency of our shared future as humans, "It's Not The End of the World," tells an apocalyptic tale of a group of characters and places that exist in a perpetual state of resurrection and perishing. They emerge and die in a decomposing odyssey of transformations, as scenes morph between serene lush ghost towns, landfills, and extractivist neoliberal sites.

Cairns is a soundwalk for Green-Wood Cemetery that leads the listener on a solitary poetic journey. Written and narrated by HARP Artist Gelsey Bell with music by Bell and composer Joseph White, Cairns is being created for the social-distancing New Yorker to meditate on the land we inhabit, sink into an arboreal temporality, and unearth the stories of a few historic trailblazers.
