Chimera

January 5 - 28, 2012

Jennifer Samuels has just discovered that she is her own twin. Welcome to the world of Chimera, a startling new piece of theatre exploring the medical phenomenon of containing two different kinds of DNA in one body. What happens when technology shatters our ideas of who we think we are?

Commissioned, developed, and produced by HERE as part of the HARP Residency Program. Developed at the Workhaus Collective; the Playwrights’ Center PlayLabs Festival of New Plays; the Perry Mansfield New Works Festival with support from Actors Theatre of Louisville; New Dramatists with support from the Creativity Fund; and the Swarthmore Project in Theatre at Swarthmore College. Also supported by the McKnight Advancement Grant; the Bush Foundation; and the Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowship, funded by the William & Eva Fox Foundation and administered by Theatre Communications Group.
Chimera is presented as part of The Public Theater’s Under The Radar Festival. Major funding for Under the Radar Festival is provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Ford Foundation. Under The Radar Professional Symposium 2012 is a pre-conference event of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, and is held in conjunction with APAP Conference NYC 2012.
