The Emotions
Master instrumentalist gamin and sound and visual composer Sachiyo Takahashi dive into the mystery of human emotions in their new experimental music theatre piece The Emotions.
The goal of this project is to rediscover human emotions from an eastern cultural perspective and present them through a universal story, told through synergies between the eye and ear.
In this HERE RAW presentation, the second milestone of their journey, The Emotions explores the transience of things, deep sentiments of longing and parting inspired by the Japanese aesthetic term “Mono no Aware” and a love song from Korea called ‘Let’s make a window’, a classical “Sijo” verse about the heartbreak of being alone.
Incorporating object performance designed by Hyung Seok Jeon, live projection by Sachiyo and gamin’s live music, this study is structured around the repetitive patterns of sound and movement. They appear and reappear in delicate variations, bringing us gradually to somewhere deeper, a mindscape where unnamed fragile feelings arise and linger.
