Spaces & Equipment
HERE has two flexible black-box theatres and a cafe/lounge, details for which are below. HERE primarily rents space through our SubletSeries Program, a curated rental series. For short-term rentals, film shoots, readings, weddings and other events, please email rentals@here.org.
The Mainstage Theatre is a flexible black box theatre with a sprung wood floor which measures 46′ x 46′. It can seat up to 150 (depending on the configuration of the seating platforms), and usually seats 99. The theatre has a complete lighting package including 92 dimmers and a complete sound system. Suitable for theatre, music, dance, performance, multi-media installations, readings, auditions, meetings, symposiums, presentations, conferences, parties, or classes. Curtain time is 8:30pm and 4pm for matinees. Available weekly for $6,000 non-profit subsidized; commercial rates available upon request. A deposit is required upon signing. More information on renting the space can be found on our SubletSeries@HERE page. Vectorworks drawings and other technical information for the Mainstage theatre can be found HERE.
The Dorothy B. Williams Theatre is a charming proscenium-style theatre with a 14′ x 38′ stage. The theatre also has the capability to transform into a flexible black box space. It has a fixed grid, a state-of-the-art lighting package including 75 dimmers and a complete sound system. The theatre has 63 seats and 8 stools. It is also suitable for readings, auditions, meetings, symposiums, conferences, presentations, or classes. Curtain time is 7pm and 2pm for matinees. Running time of the event must be 75 minutes or less. Available weekly for $3,200 non-profit subsidized; commercial rates available upon request. A deposit is required upon signing. More information on renting the space can be found on our SubletSeries@HERE page. Vectorworks drawings and other technical information for the DOT theatre can be found HERE.
Our cozy lounge is perfect for meeting before or hanging out after a show. It is open one hour before curtain for all performances and food and drink are permitted in both theatres. The space can accommodate up to 50 patrons for readings, symposiums, conferences, receptions, parties, weddings or pure leisure. Available daily and hourly for special events.
HERE’s exhibition space is an entryway to the theatres within our facility, resulting in a diverse and eclectic audience. HEREart embraces its alter ego as a lobby for HERE’s performance spaces and encourages artists to react and respond to this with their exhibits. Many visitors to our galleries are unintentional – they happen upon it on the way to a performance or the café. HEREart seeks to snag these passers-by and engage them in a dialogue with the space in which we move. HEREart is invested in supporting artworks of all media and various content, but we concentrate on new work that in some way addresses the special conditions of our space.
HERE has an extensive list of high-tech equipment available; however, much of the equipment has to be shared between both theatres. Please keep in mind that just because an item is on the list, it does not mean that the item is available. We operate on a first come-first served basis. Much of our equipment is freely available upon request, however some equipment, due to the high purchase or maintenance cost, has an additional rental cost. Items with an additional cost will be indicated as such on the equipment inventory. Any additional questions concerning our inventory can be send to production@here.org.
Looking to stream a production but don’t have the equipment you need? HERE has audio, video, and full streaming kits available for rent! See the link below for more details, including a breakdown of our equipment for these kits, and rental rate.
